Former Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of Hearts of Oak, Harry Zakkour, has shared his view on why the club is currently struggling.

According to him, the lack of attention given to players by board members is partly to blame.

Speaking to Joy Sports in a Prime Take interview that will be aired on Friday, Harry Zakkour said footballers are like women and need to be given attention for them to fight for results in games.

"You see what is happening now... you see, in my time, we had a good board of directors. When I look at the recent happenings, you need youth to run Hearts of Oak, not old men.

"Would they have enough time to come and run Accra Hearts of Oak? Would they have time... those board members, who are there now, are they going to the training grounds or to the camp to look after the boys? The boys need attention,” Harry Zakkour said.

The former CEO of Hearts of Oak continued, "footballers are like women, if you don't give them attention, how do you get results from them?"

Hearts of Oak last season struggled to compete and almost suffered relegation.

It took a final-day win to maintain a place in the Ghana Premier League.

After losing 2-1 to Asante Kotoko in the Democracy Cup match, fans are worried that the team will struggle next season as well.
