Mr Samir Captan, a former Chairman of the Ghana Boxing Authority (GBA), has been appointed to the position of World Boxing Organisation (WBO) Asia Pacific and Africa Board Member.
In his appointment letter dated June 29, 2015, signed by Mr Francisco Valcarcel, President of the WBO and copied the GNA Sports, said this comes with his unwavering commitment to boxing.
Mr. Captan was recognized for his historical and current role within the boxing world as well as contributing towards the development of boxing in Africa.
“By the authority conferred on me by the Constitution and the Regulation of the WBO, you are hereby notified of your appointment to the position of WBO Asia Pacific and Africa Board Member,” the WBO President said.
The letter continued that; “We are confident that your vast experience will be the asset that allows you to keep our organization in the privileged position it proudly holds within the boxing world, whiles allowing the growth of our regional division.”
In an interview with the GNA Sports, Mr. Captan expressed his greatest gratitude and appreciation to the WBO’s Executive Committee for the kind gesture.
He said: “Since this decision of the WBO was in appreciation of my hard work, I promise not to relent or rest on my oars so that the confidence reposed in me by the Executive Committee, can be justified.”
