Former Liverpool player Jordon Ibe sentenced for assaulting ex-girlfriend

Former Liverpool and Bournemouth winger Jordon Ibe has been fined and ordered to complete community service after admitting to assaulting his former girlfriend during an argument.

The 30-year-old former England Under-21 international pleaded guilty to assault occasioning actual bodily harm after initially denying the charge in March, 2026.

The incident happened on December 14, 2025, outside Amie Mayson’s home in Lambeth, south London. Croydon Magistrates’ Court heard that Ibe grabbed Mayson by her hair and pulled out one of her braids, leaving her with a bald patch.

Prosecutors said the pair, who had been in an on-and-off relationship since late 2024, were arguing after Mayson confronted Ibe over money she claimed he owed her.

Ibe had arrived carrying drinks, snacks and flowers, but the situation escalated after Mayson threw muffins onto the ground and called him a “druggy”.

Speaking in court after representing himself, Ibe accepted responsibility for his actions.

“I made a serious mistake. I understand it is wrong. I am genuinely remorseful. I've had to look at myself in the mirror. I cannot change what I did but will take responsibility for what I do next,” he said.

Magistrate Brij Kalia handed Ibe a 12-month community order, which includes 80 hours of unpaid work and 27 days of rehabilitation activity. He was also ordered to pay £764, comprising a £114 surcharge and £650 in court costs.

Mayson told the court the assault had affected her physically and mentally, leaving her confidence and self-esteem badly damaged. Despite feeling fear, she said she also had compassion for Ibe and that forgiveness had helped her heal.

Ibe joined Liverpool in 2012 before later playing for Derby County, Birmingham City and Bournemouth. He moved into non-league football before joining Bulgarian side Lokomotiv Sofia in November 2025.
