To keep their chances of qualifying for the 2026 World Cup alive, the Black Stars must leave the Stade du 26 Mars on Thursday, June 6, 2024, with at least a point from their game against the Eagles of Mali.

A draw and a win in their opening two games have left the Black Stars with little margin for error as they face two crucial matches in June 2024.

Victories against Mali and the Central African Republic will likely put the team in the driver's seat for direct qualification to the World Cup, which will be held in Canada, the US, and Mexico.

A win against Mali, in particular, will be of significant importance to the Black Stars as they will not only secure the three points but also blow their direct competitors out of the water.

To achieve a favorable result in Bamako, Coach Otto Addo will need some key players to step up and deliver strong performances.

Tariq Lamptey

Tariq Lamptey's return is significantly positive news for Ghana, as his marauding runs and comfort on the ball will be needed in the game.

Much of the criticism against the Black Stars has been for their slow and lethargic build-up, and in Tariq Lamptey, Coach Otto Addo has a player with the skillset to invigorate the play.

His incredible pace also means that he can recover quickly to defend against transitions.

Jordan Ayew

Jordan Ayew may be a controversial figure, but games like this are what he thrives in. In a game where Ghana is not expected to dominate, having Jordan Ayew on the field will be important as his ability to slow down play and frustrate opponents will be advantageous for the team.

Again, Jordan Ayew has a knack for stepping up in games when the odds are against the Black Stars, and having him on the pitch as one of the leaders will be vital as he could instill confidence and calmness in the team.

Mohammed Kudus

Any chance of Ghana winning or securing a draw in the game rests on the shoulders of the West Ham star, who is undoubtedly the most important element of the playing body.

Kudus has rightfully assumed the role of the Black Stars' poster boy, and in a high-stakes game, all eyes will be on him to lead the Black Stars to victory.

Thomas Partey

Thomas Partey will be captaining the side following the exclusion of Andre Dede Ayew from the team, and his leadership and guidance will be crucial in the game.

The Arsenal midfielder has been away from the team since an injury in October 2023, and his return is a significant boost for the team.

The 30-year-old will need to step up in the absence of Andre Ayew and produce a performance similar to the one against Nigeria in the 2022 World Cup qualifiers.

Despite his long absence from the team, expectations are that he will start in midfield alongside either Salisu or Cagliari midfielder Ibrahim Sulemana.
