Accra, Sep. 5, GNA - Frafra Senior Citizens defeated their Dagaaba counterparts 1-0 to win this year's Frafra/Dagaaba Fun Games held at the El-Wak Stadium in Accra on Saturday.
The match was organised with the aimed of building unity among the two traditional ethnic communities from the Upper East and Upper West Regions.
The exciting competition brought together citizens of the two ethnic groupings that saw P.P. Manaf scoring the only goal for the Frafras in the 10th minute.
The Frafras also defeated the Dagaaba 3-2 in the Under 15 category and won the Women's event 9-8 on penalties.
The Dagaabas however managed to atone for their defeats by snatching the Tug-of-Peace trophy when they won both the Men's and the Women's events with two straight pulls to appease their fans.
Mrs Nabilla Williams, Lecturer at the University of Ghana called on the two communities to champion the cause of unity and understanding. She also urged them to make the event a national affair.
Chief Dauda Dagarti, Chief of the Dagaaba Community in the Accra and Tema metropolis presented the ultimate trophy, a puppy to W.O. Awuni, Captain of the Frafra Citizens.
