The Chairman of the Local Organising Committee,Franz Beckenbauer will arrive in Ghana tomorrow to officially welcome the Black Stars to it's first World Cup appearance in Germany.In an exclusive interview with AUTHENTIC KAPITAL SPORTS on Kapital Radio in Kumasi this morning,the Second Secretary for Economics,Cultural,Press and Football, Sabrina Schmidt said,the former player and coach of the Germany National Team, will arrive at exactly 12:25 in the afternoon on board a private plan to a VIP reception organised by the Ghana Football Association at the Kotokoka International Airport.
Mr Beckenbauer who has already been to Tunisai will fly to Lome, Togo by 3pm from Luanda,Angola from where he will come to Ghana before going to Ivore Coast to round-up his tour of the five African nations which have qualified for the World Cup. Sabrina Schemidt re aveled that the itenary of Mr Beckenbauer will include a meeting with the President H! .E John Agyekum Kuffour at the castle,Osu.He will also meet the Minister of Education and Sports,the Acting Chairman,Mr Kwasi Nyantekyi and General Secretary of the Ghana Football Association,Mr Kofi Nsiah before meeting accredited media personnel at the famous La Palm Hotel in Accra. She said Beckenbauer will have a dinner in the night with invited guest to conclude his visit to the country before emplaning for Ivory Coast on Friday at 9;00am.
Ghana qualified for the first time to the World Cup alongside,Angola,Ivory Coast,Togo and Tunisia and are group in group 'E' with Italy, Czech Republic and the United States of America.
The Black Stars play their first game against three times World Champions, Italy at the newly refurbished 50,000 capacity stadium in Hanovar.The morden state of the art Stadium which used to be the home grounds of Hanovar'96 and renovated at the cost of 43 million pounds will seat 39,000 spectators for the Wo! rld Cup matches instead of the 50,000 capacity for Bundesliga matches
