Executive Chairman of Asante Kotoko, Dr Kwame Kyei has vowed to expel players caught using juju against their team-mates, footballmadeinghana.com has learnt.
The Ghana Premier League giants have not had an impressive run in the last couple of games, failing to win their last 3 games in all competitions.
They drew goalless and lost to Ashgold and Aduana Stars respectively and also suffered a humiliating elimination at the hands of Division One side, Asokwa Deportivo in the FA Cup.
Aggravating their woes is a mounting list of injured players. Kotoko have had to deal with injuries to several key players so far this season leading to inconsistencies in player selection.
In the aftermath of their elimination from the FA Cup on Sunday, an emergency meeting was arranged between top management, coaches and the playing body to get to the bottom of the problems facing the club.
Reports FootballMadeinGhana have picked up indicate, that tempers flared and emotions poured over during what was mostly verbal tirades from the club’s hierarchy towards the playing body and coaching department.
Our deep throat source indicates it had come to the attention of management of the actions of some players who use ‘juju’ to cause misfortune to colleagues.
The situation which has continued for far too long seems to have provoked Kwame Kyei.
He berated the playing body and coaching department for the recent poor form and tasked them to quickly find a way to pull the plugs on their slump.
The source also mentions that Kwame Kyei sternly warned players who are engaged in the unscrupulous practice of using juju against teammates to desist from it or risk expulsion if caught.
Kotoko will next play against Bechem United in the Ghana Premier League on Friday. The game will be hosted at the club’s newly adopted home venue; the Accra Sports Stadium.
