G-18 golf tourney at Tema on Saturday, Sunday

Accra, April 15, GNA - Oyeeman Nana Wereko Ampem II, Former Chairman of Barclays Bank Ghana Limited, joins more a dozen eminent people this weekend at the Tema Country Golf Course to compete in the maiden edition of the G-18 golf competition.

The G-18 is to assemble 18 companies including Goldfields, Emirate Airlines, Ecobank, Merchant bank, Labadi Beach hotel, Wienco Fertilizer and Regency Resort to compete in what will become an annual event. Nana Wereko Ampem II, who is also the Chancellor of the University of the Ghana, Legon, surprisingly joins Enoch Osei Sarfo as representatives of Ecobank and not his former bank,. Barclays.

The organisers, Letage Productions, told the GNA Sports in Accra that each company would enter four names for the two-day 36-hole event, which starts on Saturday.

Twenty four-year-old South African, Jasson William, of Linde company Limited, winner of last Saturday's Bok Nam Kim Memorial competition, leads his team which includes his father, Barry William, to Tema.

Rob Macaskill, Eric Dyrdeck, Bob Evans and Bryan Webster represent Emirate Airlines. The competition would also serve as a platform to lobby the companies to invest into the sport.
