Accra, March 5, GNA - The Ghana Boxing Authority (GBA) has made amendments to its Rules and Regulations in accordance with Article 41 of the Authority.
With the change of amendments, titles will be declared vacant if a champion is unable or unwilling to defend his title after the expiration of four months from the date of winning the title or one's last defence of the title.
The Authority would therefore select two boxers to meet for the vacant title, according to information gathered by the GNA Sports from the secretariat of the GBA.
In the same development, a champion would not be required to defend his title until the expiration of four months from the date of winning or successfully defending his title.
The GBA would however have the sole discretion to waive requirements of this regulation and order a rematch of a previous title defence. A champion who fails to defend his title within four months will automatically loose the title.
According to the new amendments, a champion may with the approval of GBA engage in a shorter duration for a voluntary defence. The GBA according to the amendments would place a 12 months ban on any boxer who withdraws from any approved elimination contest with reasons not acceptable to the Authority.
The GBA has therefore called on all national champions to avail themselves to prepare for the defence of the titles.
