Accra, Feb. 12, GNA - The Ghana Boxing Authority (GBA) has dissociated itself from a supposed upcoming boxing championship dubbed "Valentine's Eve Boxing Bonanza.
Mohamed Amin Lamptey, Communications Director of GBA told GNA Sports that his outfit has not sanctioned the championship being put together by Box Office Promotions at the Jubilee Pool House in James Town. "The GBA wants to make it clear to all and sundry that it has not approved such a bout and the C.E O of Box Office Promotions, Mr Alex Ntiamoah is speaking without the prior knowledge of the Authority." Mr Lamptey expressed disgust about the spate of unsanctioned championships which gain currency in the print and electronic media and warned officials involved in such acts to desist forthwith or be sanctioned. He also urged the media to verify such pronouncements from the official source before going public.
This is the second time the GBA has dissociated itself from a championship after a similar one was announced in December 2009.
