Accra, March 14, GNA - The Ghana Boxing Authority (GBA) on Wednesday officially launched the Golden Jubilee Boxing Bonanza on Wednesday in Accra.
The event, one of the sporting activities organized to mark the country's Golden Jubilee Independence anniversary is fixed for Friday, March 23 at the Azumah Nelson Sports Complex in Accra.
The boxing bonanza is a joint collaboration between Metropolitan Television, Ambition and Commonwealth Sports Awards and Obric Sala Promotions with support from the GBA and the Ghana@50 Secretariat. Bouts for the anniversary events include three Commonwealth fights, three African fights and one national title fight.
Topmost on the attraction is the vacant African Boxing Union (ABU) Super lightweight championship between Ghana's Lartei Lartey and Kelvin Onyango of Kenya.
Lante Addy will also square off with Nigerian Ibrahim Adewale in the ABU Bantamweight Division while Sam Amoako and Bilal Mohammed engage in the National Lightweight final eliminator.
Former Commonwealth Welterweight champion, Joshua Okine comes up against Philip Kotey in an all Ghanaian affair with Nigerian Michael Gbenga battling Charles Adamu of Ghana in the final eliminators of the Commonwealth Welterweight and Super Middleweight categories. George Ashie and Yakubu Amidu will also square off in the final eliminator for the Commonwealth Super Featherweight title. Albert Mensah will take on Ben Ankrah for the National Lightweight title whilst Joseph Agbeko and Mohammed Nzor sort things out in the Super Bantamweight division.
Light Heavyweight Braimah Kamoko alias 93Bukom Banku" will engage in a Catchweight contest with an opponent yet to be named.
