GBA orders for six mandatory title fights

Accra, March 15, GNA - The Ghana Boxing Authority (GBA) has ordered six mandatory title fights to be staged within the next 90 days or else the champions face the risk of being stripped off their respective titles.

The order, which was contained in the quarterly rankings released by the Authority was made available to the GNA Sports.

According to the rankings, Brimah Kamoko will be the first to fulfil the order as he is scheduled to fight Michael Gbenga Emla in the Africa Boxing Union (ABU) Light Heavyweight championship, whilst Ishmael Tetteh and Thomas Awimbono would vie for the National and West Africa Super Welterweight championship.

Philip Kotey's title defence against Larteikwei Hammond in the Welterweight Division as well as that of Ben Ankrah against Bilal Mohammed in the Lightweight division, fixed for April 1, are among the mandatory bouts ordered by the GBA.

The GBA has also mandated Ben Odametey to defend his National Featherweight title against Samuel Danso whilst Moro Tijani is also to defend his national Super Lightweight title against Isaac Quartey all within 60 days.

Also in the quarterly rankings of the GBA are nine vacant national titles that are yet to be contested for.

Among the vacant titles are the National Heavyweight, Cruiser weight, Light Heavyweight, Super Middleweight, Super Welterweight, Lightweight, Super Featherweight, Super Flyweight and Flyweight.
