Accra, May 18, GNA - The Ghana Boxing Authority (GBA) will commence registration of boxers for the 2006 edition of Mortein Professional Boxing League on May 22 to 26, at its secretariat.
The Association expects to register about 67 boxers drawn from the various boxing gyms in the country to form the first batch of registered boxers for the league. Mr Justus Agbeko, General Secretary of the GBA in a statement said that the league is scheduled to commence on August 22 and end on December 26.
The statement copied to the GNA Sports said prior to the commencement of the league, series of courses and medical examinations will be conducted for the various stakeholders to update them on the competition.
It said boxers will be taken through a thorough medical examination between June 5-19 and this would be followed by a seminar for ring officials on June 20 to 21. Also outlined in the programme is a four-day coaching course for trainers which spans from June 26-30 whilst the media will also be taken through a day's seminar. The statement appealed to all stakeholders to patronise the activities of the authority for a successful boxing season.
