A member of The Ghana Football Association Executive Committee Maxwell Kojo Yankah has praised Ghana U17 team [Black Starlets] for their ‘stylish’ performance at the ongoing African U17 championship in Gabon.

Ghana became the first team to qualify for the semi-final at the Total U-17 African Cup of Nations Gabon 2017 after securing a 5- 0 win against hosts Gabon at the Stade de Port Gentil on Wednesday.

Coach Paa Kwesi Fabian’s side before yesterday’s game against host country Gabon had walloped Cameroon 4-0 on Sunday in their opening game.

He has however tipped the Starlets to clinch gold at the tournament having watched their ‘impressive’ first two matches.

”The team is a very good team so we should support them because they stand tall among their competitors and I think they can win gold at the end of the tournament to hoist the country’s flag higher especially when they have qualified for the world Cup which will be staged in India later this year” Kojo Yanka told sportsworldghana.com in an exclusive interview on Thursday after the Starlets walloped host Gabon 5-0 on Wednesday.

”I am impressed with the team’s performance and I think All Credit should go to the head coach Paaa Kwesi Fabian and the FA who helped the team to prepare so well at Prampram”.

”The FA did well by financing the team’s stay in Prampram because if the FA had relied on the ministry we wouldn’t have been where we are today because they kept telling us they had no money in their coffers”.

Yankah who commended the FA for helping the team to this appreciable feat said disclosed that his outfit intends to promote the players to the country’s U20 team to ensure they reach a higher status in their football career.

”The boys are really a delight to watch and surely they will be promoted to the Black Satellites team because GFA intends to migrate players from one level to another level and that is why we want to do that to the extent of also promoting them to the Olympic team and if possible play for the Black Stars in future” added the Western regional RFA boss.

Ghana who have already qualified for the FIFA U17 world Cup will wrap up their Group A fixtures with a match against Guinea at the Stade de l’Amitie in Libreville on Saturday while Gabon will simultaneously square up against Cameroon in Port Gentil.
