Legal Counsel for Berekum Arsenals, Kwame Ntow Fiako has branded the Ghana Football Association’s Disciplinary Committee as discriminatory.
According to Mr. Fiako who doubles as the Division One League Board Chairman, the Disciplinary Committee is setting a precedent which is dangerous for Ghana football. He quibbled why a body that has been set up to deal with issues affecting members of the association on a level field was doing otherwise.
Mr. Fiako told Asempa Sports on Wednesday that, Berekum Arsenals, per the rules and regulations of the association, petitioned the Disciplinary Committee as far back as 11th March 2010, on an alleged ill-treatment meted out to Alhaji Yakubu Moro who is the founder and bank roller of the club by Real Tamale United but have still not gotten a verdict.
He added that, RTU as per the rules and regulations of the association were given an opportunity to respond to the protest but failed to do so. He believes the Disciplinary Committee should have come out with the verdict since RTU had failed to respond but the Disciplinary Committee also failed to act.
He further stated that Berekum Arsenals still wanting justice, petitioned the Disciplinary Committee on September 24, 2010, hoping for a favourable response, but to their utter dismay the Disciplinary Committee failed to respond.
He said upon incessant pressure on the committee, they were called on 8th August 2011 but till date they have not heard anything whatsoever from the committee even though RTU, the accused party, still failed to appear.
Mr. Ntow Fiako wondered ”why should Berekum Arsenals beg for justice”. He believes the “Animal Farm” attitude and selective justice of the Disciplinary Committee if not checked, will lead to chaos in the association.
The legal counsel for Berekum Arsenals is therefore calling on all who matter in Ghana football to call the Disciplinary Committee to order to save Ghana football.
