Ghana FA vice-president Fred Crentsil faces disqualification from seeking a fresh mandate on the powerful Executive Committee following the demotion of his club Techiman City.

Crenstil, who is seeking re-election on the ticket of the Techiman-based side, was dealt a severe blow following the demotion of the National Division One zone one leaders to the country’s third-tier league over match-fixing claims.

Techiman FC and Wa African United were demoted to the second division with their respective CEO’s banned six months after being found guilty of match fixing.

The verdict of the Ethics Committee effectively rules out Crentsil, who is the board chairman, from the race as he may not be qualified to fight for a slot on the Executive committee on the ticket of the demoted club.

The Ghana FA has remained silent on the legal interpretation of the ruling, which has led to widespread speculation in the local media.

The highly-respected football administrator won a seat on the Executive Committee on the ticket of Ghanaian giants Hearts of Oak in 2011 and was subsequently appointed vice-president of the federation.
