I write in support of the appointment of James Kwasi Appiah as the substantive lead Coach of the Black Stars, the Senior National Team. In fact, it is the best decision the Ghana Football Association (GFA) has made that has calmed the nerves of many football loving fans, so long as filling the vacuum created by the sacked former coach; Goran Stevanovic of Serbia was concerned.

By his appointment, GFA has reposed confidence in Kwasi Appiah who has what it takes to deliver goods all things being equal.

Kwasi has had the privilege to work as the Assistant Coach of the senior national team, the Black Stars since 2008. In addition to this fact, he also led the Black Meteors to win the gold Medal at the 2011 All African Games in Maputo. Kwasi Appiah was also among the technical brains when the nation excelled to reach the quarter –final of 2010 FIFA World Cup in South –Africa.

Many football loving fans hailed the appointment of a native as coach because they believed that the blackman is capable of managing the national team to victories because history has authenticated that particular belief. Again many believe that the youngman has what it takes to be successful in his new role.

I know that your job is not a comfortable one. It is full of challenges. As a lead coach; you must get the capacity to stomach nonsense. In order to be successful, Kwasi, you must remove fear of criticism from you dictionary. You must face this task with discipline, dedication and hard work. You should call a spade a spade and execute your duties objectively and professionally without fear or favour.

GFA should give Kwasi the needed AUTONOMY and necessary support so that he works without interferences and distractions.

Above all, Kwasi needs the prayers and support of all and sundry. We all must be patient and magnanimous in our criticisms when he fails to win some of the times and highlight our wining strengths because football, as a game of no logic, you do not win all the time.

Kwasi, this is the golden opportunity for you to be confident and bring to bear all the competencies, technical skills and knowledge you have acquired during your long term career path training and development to make us all proud.

We wish you all the best.
