The Ghana Football Association (GFA) and organizers of the Ghana-England match, Mel Goldberg, have denied a Ghana News Agency (GNA) publication saying imputing fraud, saying the allegations are untrue.
The two organisations claim in a press release copied to ghanabusinessnews.com that the GNA publication titled ‘Match Organiser Defrauded GFA’ is without merit.
“The organiser of the historic Black Stars versus England international friendly match in London last March, Mel Goldberg, is reported to have defrauded the Ghana Football Association (GFA) and travel and tour operators, Bahmed Travel and Tours of more than £100,000?, the GNA report said in part.
The GNA report also said that Mel Goldberg has allegedly failed to honour his side of the pre-match deed of paying the GFA over £70,000 and a refund of £51,000 to Bahmed Travel and Tours.
“The two organisations have stated that the publication is false and without any merit. The GFA also says it has received all outstanding payments and claims under the contract with Mel Goldberg Law”, the release said.
“We wish to disassociate ourselves from this publication and state categorically that it is false and without any merit” says the release citing Emmanuel Gyimah, Acting General Secretary of the GFA.
The FA has received all outstanding payments and claims under the contract with Mel Goldberg Law, he added.
“I have provided the GFA at all times with correspondence from my bank concerning these payments, all of which have been duly paid”, Mel Goldberg said in the statement.
