GFA Secretariat opens 4 months after 'Number 12' brouhaha

The headquarters of the Ghana Football Association has been reopened four months after it was shut down by the Criminal Investigations Department of the Ghana Police Service.

This is after the President of the Normalization Committee, Kofi Amoah hinted of the reopening of the place that has been under lock since the airing of the Anas Number 12 Expose on June 6.

The GFA office was labelled a crime scene by the CID after some key officials of the Association were caught on camera engaging in various corrupt practices.

The CID after closing down the office, took away some important documents and computers of the association but the place is now back in full business after undergoing renovations by the Normalization Committee, although result of the investigations are yet to be made public.

A visit to the premise this morning shows that almost all staff of the association are back to work and going about their normal businesses.

Some senior staff members including the Technical Director of the association, Francis Oti Akenteng and member of the Communications Department, Francis Bossman were in their offices discharging their duties as expected.

The President of the Normalization Committee on Friday confirmed that the committee that has been conducting its operations outside the association’s office will move to the refurbished FA Secretariat to continue the process of normalizing Ghana football.

The committee, in their interactions with the media and club owners last Wednesday and Friday respectively promised to pay the outstanding salaries of the GFA staff as soon as possible.

The FA staff only received their June salary since the secretariat was cordoned off by the police as a crime scene, following an Accra High Court injunction on June 12 on the activities of the GFA.
