GFA commiserates with family of late GPL star Hans Kwofie

President of the Ghana Football Association, Kurt Edwin Simeon-Okraku, visited the family of the late former Premier League star Hans Kwofie in his hometown of Dompim Pepesa, near Tarkwa in the Western Region.

The FA president paid his respects to the deceased Medeama SC and AshantiGold hero during his visit on Friday, August 16, 2024.

He expressed his condolences to the family and assured them of the Football Association's support in giving Kwofie a fitting farewell. Hans Kwofie, aged 35, tragically passed away in an accident on June 21, 2024.

Kwofie had a remarkable career with his boyhood club, Medeama SC, where he became a cult hero. He also had a successful stint in Obuasi with AshantiGold, winning the Premier League top scorer award in 2017.

Additionally, he played for other Ghanaian clubs such as Heart of Lions, Legon Cities, and Aduana Stars, as well as for Qatari club Al-Oruba and Egyptian side Smouha FC.

President Simeon-Okraku was accompanied by Executive Council member Samuel Aboabire, Western Regional Football Association Chairman Simon Ehumah, Medeama SC President Moses Armah, Head of Public Relations and Strategy Neil Armstrong-Mortagbe, Chief of Staff Michael Osekre, and Medeama SC Operations Manager John Cudjoe.

Hans Kwofie will be laid to rest in his hometown of Dompim Pepesa on Saturday, August 17, 2024.
