Henry Asante Twum, the Spokesperson for the Ghana Football Association has expressed confidence of the government coming to the aid of the football community.

Football activities have come to a standstill due to the ban on social gathering as part of the measures to stop the spread of Coronavirus.

However, according to Mr Asante, the government must not overlook the football community adding that they will need a minimal amount to support the various clubs.

"There was a need for the GFA President to show leadership, a reason he briefed the football community about the progress of his discussions with the powers that be," he told Oyerepa FM.

"Government is supporting the likes of Kayayes' giving them shelter, feeding them to the extent of taking the mentally retarded off the streets in these crucial times and investors in Football also invest in the Ghanaian economy so can't be left out.

"The likes of Togbe Afede XIV, Dr Kwame Kyei, Agama, Moses Parker and the rest are like owners of Coca Cola, Nestle Ghana and any other company in Ghana.

He continued, "If the government is doing anything for his people, football cannot be an exception.

"What the GFA President is doing is to engage the Government through the MOYS so they could come to our aid, we are not expecting something too huge but at least something small to push us so we can pay salaries.

"Looking at our revenue streams, it's player sales, sponsorship and matchday revenue and now the only sponsors we have are StarTimes and Nasco, there's no other.

"He's really pushing hard so Government can support us," he added.
