Contrary to perceptions that money will play a huge factor in the upcoming elections, Fred Pappoe reckons the candidate with the best plans and policies will be elected by the delegates to lead the association.
There has been a great show of opulence on the part of some candidates in the lead up to the GFA elections with some aspirants accused of inducing delegates with huge sums of monies and gifts.
With the bad perception of corruption hanging over the image of the Ghana Football Association, it is the hope of many that for the first time in many years, ideas and not any other consideration will form the basis for the election of a new FA President and his Executive Council members.
Fred Pappoe who was Vice President under Kwesi Nyantakyi during his first term says he trusts the 120 delegates who will elect a new administration to choose people based on competence and policies.
Speaking to pressmen on the sideline of Osei Palmer’s manifesto launch Fred Pappoe said “I believe the issues confronting us. The possibility of charting a path which will send us to the path of progress or steep decline again are the factors which will influence the delegates and I believe that the delegates will be influence in the great way by these factors” he said.
Papsey as he is affectionately called is one of seven candidates hoping to be elected by an elective congress of 120 members to lead Ghana football for the next four years.
As part of the electioneering process, aspirants had to be grilled by a committee of five persons on why they should be allowed to contest the elections.
Asked how his time with the vetting committee went, the Great Olympics chief said that he had a friendly chat with the committee which is chaired by lawyer Mr Frank Davies Esq.
The committee is expected to announce the outcome of its meetings with the aspirants later today and there have been reports that some candidates will be disqualified but the ex-GFA vice president says he is not perturbed by those reports.
The former FA Vice President will launch his manifesto on Thursday, October 10 in Accra and is optimistic his vision to lead Ghana football will see the light of day.
