The Ghana FA’s Normalization Committee (NC) President, Dr Kofi Amoah has confessed that conducting fresh elections for a substantive president and executive committee members will be time-consuming.

Speaking about their plans going forward after ensuring the return of competitive local football with the novelty NC Special Competition for Premier and Division One clubs, Dr. Amoah, who witnessed the Hearts-Dreams opening day encounter at the Accra Sports Stadium Sunday, hinted that they will be adopting the down-top approach where all constituent bodies will be elected – from the district to regional levels – before that of the GFA President.

“For us as the Normalization Committee, organizing this tournament and supervising the day-to-day affairs of the GFA is just one aspect of our mandate,” he told GTV.

“We are also seriously involved in looking at the Statuses… we will try to bring in new ideas and new regulations that will strengthen Ghana football.

“And of course when we finish, we are now thinking of how to organize the elections. It is going to take a long time from the district level all the way to the national level. So it is an enormous task that we have to do,” Dr. Amoah noted.

“I think that gradually we are all coming together to see that it is not just the four members of the Normalization Committee but the collective of the whole football family that we have to work together to get Ghana football going again,” he added.

With a new inclusion of ex-footballer Samuel Osei Kuffour in place of Lawyer Duah Adonten, the four-member Normalization Committee recently had their mandate extended by six more months – till end of September 2019. From their first six months, it has been evident that the Committee’s work singularly centered on the day-to-day administrative routines while failing to touch on the review of the existing regulations governing the game as well as an electoral process for a new leadership to take over its administration.
