Footy-ghana.com can confirm that the hierarchy of the Ghana Football Association (GFA) feels that it has been led on a wild goose chase by Chelsea midfielder Michael Essien.
According to our sources, this came to light at a meeting between the GFA and the Ministry for Youth and Sports on Wednesday afternoon.
Footy-ghana.com understands that the GFA hierarchy at the meeting expressed unhappiness at the fact that Essien and his representatives did not make good on their promise that the midfield enforcer was set to announce his return to the Black Stars in June, just before the Essien foundation game.
It will be recalled that Essien’s representative and wife, Akosua Puni mentioned on several media networks that Essien was going to make a big announcement regarding his future with the Black Stars after the charity friendly, but no announcement was made.
Footy-ghana.com can reveal that the GFA is close to taking a decision not to pursue Essien any longer, since it feels it has been deceived, with these sentiments made known at the meeting on Wednesday.
