GFA has been insensitive to clubs - Nana Yaw Amponsah

Former GFA presidential aspirant Nana Yaw Amponsah has questioned the current administration over its care for members.

Nana Amponsah, who joined Happy FM’s panel of top football administrators to discuss the repercussions of the Covid-19 on football in our country, underscored the need for the FA to eschew what he called a luxurious lifestyle and focus on working on the plight of football clubs in the country.

The President for Division One club Phar Rangers FC says football teams and their players are the most important part of the Ghana Football Association, hence the need to provide extra attention for their needs in these very trying times.

“Our money is in and you won’t give us but you are rather writing to government seeking for help. Let your members feel the money,” he said.

“The Ghana FA has been insensitive to its members in this Covid era. They didn’t even supply protective masks for its members but they are rather busy renovating the FA building. What happens if their members die after this crisis?” he quizzed.

Again Nana Yaw Amponsah believes the Ghana Premier League should be given time to rest for now and be resumed in September this year in order to sync properly with the European calendar.

According to him, the period of lull in football at the moment might see some hope by then and then the game can be fully back running again.

“If we want to synchronize our league with that of Europe, then we must wait and start in September. At the moment the Accra Sports Stadium pitch will not be ready for football for the next one month.

“Let’s give ourselves up to September to start a new league so clubs can start to prepare and meet the club licensing requirements,” he added.

The Ghana Football Association’s set date for the major announcement of what to do with the league is June 30.
