The Ghana Football Association (GFA) has paid tribute to the late Black Stars striker Junior Manuel Agogo, marking the fifth anniversary of his passing with a heartfelt message.

On August 22, 2019, Agogo passed away in London at the age of 40 after battling the effects of a stroke.

The GFA's tribute on X (formerly Twitter) celebrated Agogo's enduring legacy.

Agogo's football career was marked by significant achievements. He began his professional journey with Sheffield Wednesday and scored over 100 goals throughout his career, notably at Bristol Rovers where he netted 45 goals in 140 appearances.

His contributions were crucial in Nottingham Forest’s promotion to the Championship during the 2007/2008 season.

Internationally, Agogo earned acclaim with Ghana's Black Stars, scoring 12 goals in 27 matches and leaving a memorable mark in the 2008 Africa Cup of Nations.

Despite his struggles post-retirement, including a stroke and speech difficulties, Agogo’s resilience and impact on football remain celebrated.
