The Ghana Football Association is saddened by the death of former international midfielder Yakubu Abubakari.
The former Ajax Amsterdam and Vitesse Arnhem died on Tuesday afternoon at the age of 36. He is reported to have been under oxygen support at the Tema Government Hospital before he gave up.
A statement on the Ghana FA Twitter handle read: ''We’re sad to hear the death of former Ghana, Ajax & Vitesse midfielder Abubakari Yakubu, our thoughts are with his family. may his soul RIP.''
Abubakari was a member of the Black Stars squad that qualified Ghana for their first ever FIFA World Cup in 2006.
