The Vice President of the Ghana Football Association George Afriyie has revealed that the federation paid over GH¢ 50,000 to clear equipments at the port for the upcoming National U15 Championship.

According to him, the entire equipment for the championship were freely given by FIFA but the federation had to cough over the said amount to clear the goods from the port to ensure they are given to the teams.

"Let me quickly clarify this point that the FA had to pay over GH¢ 50,000 to clear the equipment from the port before distributing to the clubs," George Afriyie said at the launch of the National U15 League.

The equipment which included sets of jerseys, goalkeepers gloves, bibs, shin guards, pair of socks, pair of boots, balls and ball bags have been distributed to the teams for the championship.

In all, 16 teams will be taking part in the competition nationwide on regional basis in two zones.

The Northern Zone will be made up of teams from Ashanti A, Ashanti B, Brong Ahafo A, Brong Ahafo B, Upper East, Upper West, Northern and Utrecht Academy.

The following will also be teams from the Southern Zone; Greater Accra A, Greater, Accra B, Central, Western, Eastern, Volta, Unistar Academy and Winneba Academy.

About fifty coaches nationwide recently received training by the FA to coach the various teams that will be taking part in the league.
