THE GHANA Football Association has conveyed a message of condolence to their South African counterparts after the Ellis Park stadium tragedy.

43 South African supporters were killed due to over-crowding in the Johannesburg derby between Orlando Pirates and Kaiser Chiefs on Wednesday.

According to the message signed by acting FA chairman, E.A. Owusu Ansah, the incident is even more painful, coming at a time the football world appeared to be sympathetic to Africa in general and to South Africa in particular in its bid to host the 2010 World Cup.

It further expressed the Ghanaian FA's deepest condolence to the bereaved families, and asked that they put the unfortunate incident behind and continue in their search for honour to Africa and to their good selves.

The tragedy also saw 250 people sustaining various injuries in the packed 60,000 capacity stadium with a further 30,000 reportedly attempting to gain entry.
