The Ghana Football Association is set to hold a meeting with Ex-NC President Kofi Amoah today over the ‘missing’ $100,000 Glo money.

The governing body revealed that only US$ 900,000 out of the US$ 1,000,000 from the arbitration settlement by Globacom Ghana was paid into their account on Wednesday.

According to a statement by the FA, Dr Amoah explained that he deducted $100,000 from the amount claiming it was payments to a lawyer on the case.

Even more curious is the fact that although Dr Amoah claims to have paid for the services of a lawyer for $100,000, lawyer Thaddeus Sory who was appointed by the GFA about three years ago to negotiate the GFA’s position in the arbitration with Glo and successfully reached the agreement has not been paid.

The FA has therefore summoned Kofi Amoah to a crisis meeting to further investigate the matter.

Background

It will be recalled that in December 2008, Globacom Ghana secured a five-year deal to be the headline sponsor of the Ghana Premier League.

The contract was due to expire at the end of the 2013/ 2014 league season.

However, the telecom company failed to meet sponsorship obligations to the Ghana FA which led to the termination of the contract leaving telecom company with outstanding debts to the Ghana FA.

Following the arbitration and agreement, GLO made a first payment of $500,000 to the GFA in 2018 with an agreement to pay the subsequent $1m which was delivered this week.
