GFA to complete another sponsorship deal next week

Accra, Oct. 14, GNA - The Ghana Football Association (GFA) is set to announce a new sponsorship package for the national premier league by the close of next week.

This comes few days after Kinapharma Company Limited, sponsors of the 2003 Premier league were kicked out by the FA after the two parties failed to agree on a common term.

Mr Kwesi Nyantakyie, Vice Chairman of the GFA told the GNA Sports that two companies have expressed interest in taking up the sponsorship of the league and the FA is making a critical study of the offers brought forward.

According to Mr Nyantakyie, the Management Board will soon meet with the interested companies after which they will strike an agreement for the sponsorship of league.

The GFA Vice Chairman however refused to disclose the names of the companies since he said the FA is yet to sign a deal with the corporate bodies "hence it will be inappropriate to name any company at this time."

Mr Nyantakyie noted that the GFA in signing the agreement would take into consideration the views and needs of the clubs since all the stakeholders in the game have been duly consulted. He said much lessons have been learnt from the troubled Kinapharma deal last year and expressed the hope of securing a better deal this year.

The GFA scribe said, "We are confident of getting something not less than what Kinapharma gave out last year for the rest of the league matches".

It would be recalled that, Kinapharma Company Limited, a pharmaceutical company limited paid 1.5 billion cedis to secure the rights of sponsorship for the 2003 premier league but the deal run into trouble when the contract was about to be renewed for this year's Premier league.
