The Ghana Football Association (GFA) Executive Committee will ratify the appointment of Avram Grant as the new Black Stars coach on Thursday.

This comes after Ghana’s Sports Ministry approved the appointment of the ex-Chelsea manager as coach of the Ghanaian national team.

The approval from government paves the way for the Executive Committee to table its offer to the Israeli coach despite uncertainties about his passport.

Grant is expected to earn a monthly salary of $50,000, as well as a signing fee of over $200,000.

Grant, 59, has been widely touted by the Ghanaian media as front-runner for the vacant Black Stars job, following what was regarded as an impressive display before the Ghana FA’s interview panel in October.

There has also been concerns that because Grant holds an Israeli passport, he might be prevented from travelling to countries that do not provide access to Israelis – which includes most of the Arab world.

GFA said it was looking into the issue.

Ghana’s soccer team is considered one of the best in Africa, with many projecting it to win the Africa Cup of Nations next January.
