Tue, 10 Jun 1997 Source: --

TEMA, -- 9 June Ghapoha Readers scored three second half goals without reply to eliminate premier league leaders, Real Tamale United (RTU), from the ABC/FA Cup in their quarter-final match played at the Tema Sports Stadium today. RTU made an explosive start, piling pressure on Ghapoha but the Tamale boys could not utilise the many scoring chances they created for a goaless first half. Ghapoha took over from the break and deservedly shot into the lead in the 55th minute through right winger Joe Mills, who fired into an empty net when keeper Justice Quainoo was out of his posts to confront an attacker beyond the 18. The homesters nearly increased the tally in the 61st minute through Mills but he got injured in the process and was replaced by Emmanuel Quarshie. Ghapoha scored again in the 79th minute when Baba Moro's long range shot beat keeper Quainoo. Five minutes later, Ghapoha missed another opportunity narrowly when a shot from mid-fielder Robert Amoako hit the upright but the rebound was cleared by a defender. Ghapoha got their third goal on the stroke of full time when striker Amadu Adama surprised goalie Quainoo with a non-drop shot from close range. MORE
