GHASOLCA congeal position on players

Accra, Sept 20, GNA - The Ghana Women Soccer League Clubs Association (GHASOLCA) has congealed its position on the release of its players for national camping despite their recent meeting with the Deputy Minister of Education and Sports, Mr Osei Bonsu Amoah to arrive at an amicable settlement of the impasse of the issue. The umbrella body of the women's game insists that until the five-member Committee tasked with functioning out recommendations to solve their problems present their report, the proposed camping would still remain elusive.

Philip de-Graft Johnson, Vice Chairman of the Association told the decision that will inform the way forward of women soccer is reached". Mr Amoah last Friday set up a five-member committee tasked with a two-week ultimatum of finding solutions to the impasse and the association's problems.

Even though earlier reports suggested that GHASOLCA had agreed to release the players who were expected to commence camping last week, the Vice Chairman explained that "as stated at the meeting, we can only release our players when we are definitely convinced that our plight have been taking seriously".

In effect, the Association is therefore emphasising that their proposal on a 70 percent representation on the Women's Board of the Ghana Football Association (GFA) should be met to inspire confidence in their dealings and operation.

Among the answers GHASOLCA are seeking before they release their players is the creation of a secretariat, which would oversee to the day-to-day running of the women's game in the country. Mr Johnson said the Association would defy every attempt by any group of person(s) to jeopardise their stance and the on-going negotiations.

Last week GHASOLCA directed all clubs affiliated to the body not to release their players for camping, and cited insensitivity on the part of the GFA towards the development of women soccer. It accused the FA of calling the players only when their services are needed but later dump them as waste material after national assignments.

The Association also accused the GFA of disrespecting them when the latter invited players for camping through a newspaper publication without first notifying them.
