The headline and clothing sponsor for Ghana’s Fastest Human 2016, Ghana National Petroleum Corporation (GNPC), will sponsor four Ghanaian athletes for a one year period. The sponsorship will begin with the GNPC’s Ghana’s Fastest Human Final of the Finals slated for September 10th in Kumasi.
The organisers of the competition have planned to establish a local ‘Speedsters Athletic Club’, which will later change into a sprinters Academy. The plan of the “Speedsters Club” is to become the elite Club that every potential sprinter in Ghana will aim to be part of. The GNPC Speedsters Club will help transform an athlete from being a local athlete to a world class one and to have access to a nutritional programme and also new and improved training methods and a sports psychology programme.
The organisers will also select the best sprints coaches in Ghana and three specialised professionals to help the athletes reach their potential by improving their mind and body. The specialists include Dr. Matilda Laar, a Certified Dietician, Dr. Rachel Pugh, a Clinical Psychologist and Andrew Marri K Kuadey, a Muscle Therapist/Trigger Point Muscle Therapist, who deals in acute and chronic pain.
The three, who are based locally, had come up with a strategic local programme and nutritional diet plan for the four athletes. This will go on for the entire year and they will work hand in hand with the sprint coaches to ensure that the best comes out of the athletes.
Adidas Ghana will kit the four athletes for the entire year with training and leisure wear as part of the Ultimate Prize. GNPC Ghana’s Fastest Human is supported by Surfline, Adidas Ghana, Red Sea Maritime, Pippas Gym, Moringa King, Indomie, Afam Beauty Products and Wrenco Printing.
