Accra, June 2, GNA - The Ghana Olympic Committee will officially launch its second phase of the National Four-year Sponsorship initiative for international competitions in Kumasi, the Ashanti Regional capital. The big-do would take place at the Prempeh Assembly Hall, Kumasi on Friday June 5 and it would be graced by the Asantehene Otumfuo Osei Tutu who would be the Special Guest of Honour.
Mr Frank Appiah, First Vice President of the GOC in a Press release copied to GNA Sports said the innovative sponsorship initiative is to whip up support for International Games.
The international competitions targeted for the 4-year sponsorship initiative include the 2010 Youth Olympics in Singapore, the 2010 Commonwealth Games in New Delhi, the 2011 All Africa Games in Maputo and the 2012 Olympic Games in London.
Mr Frank Appiah said the packed programme includes cultural performance, buffet dinner unveiling of the official Logo of the Project, music fiesta with prominent and renowned musicians among others.
In attendance would be the Minister of Youth and Sports, Alhaji Mohammed Mubarak Muntaka as the Guest Speaker to be supported by the Ashanti Regional Minister, Mr Kofi Opoku Manu while the Mayor of the Kumasi Metropolis, Mr Samuel Sarpong would host the Olympic family, corporate Ghana, the Diplomatic Community, top Government officials and the sporting media.
