The Ghana Ports and Harbours Authority Fire and Safety soccer team has won the 3rd edition of the Tema Zone LCB Corporate Games, defeating the Ghana Dock Labour Company team 1-0 in the final.
The Corporate Games, organized by Crisis Management Solutions Company, LCB Worldwide Ghana, aim to enhance solidarity among key stakeholders in the business community.
The GPHA Fire and Safety team went unbeaten in the competition, lifting the trophy after a first-half strike against their GDLC opponents.
Sixteen corporate organizations participated in this year's games, including the Ghana Ports and Harbours Authority's Fire department, Ghana Police Service, Ghana Institute of Freight Forwarders, Ghana Union of Traders Association, Wilmar Africa, and McDan Group, among others.
In the Accra Zone tournament, the Ghana Union of Traders Association beat the Ghana Institute of Freight Forwarders 5-4 in penalties after a goalless draw. Both the GPHA Fire Team and GUTA received a trophy and a cash prize of GH¢10,000 each. The second-placed teams in both the Tema and Accra Zones received a cash prize of GH¢5,000 each, while Wilmar and Manna FC, who placed third in the Tema and Accra zones respectively, received a cash prize of GH¢3,000 each. The top scorer and best goalkeeper also received cash prizes.
Speaking to the media, Felix Segbaya, an Operations Officer at LCB Worldwide Ghana, stated that the tournament fulfilled the Country Manager's passion and commitment to sporting activities in the country.
"Although our CEO is passionate about soccer, at LCB, we believe sports create an avenue for companies to come together. As part of our Corporate Social Responsibilities, this is a way of giving back to the businesses we are actively engaged with," he said.
He disclosed that there are plans to make the tournament bigger and more fun in subsequent competitions.
Philomena Ocloo, Supervisor of Operations at LCB Worldwide Ghana, commended all the teams for participating in the tournament and complying with the rules set out.
