Accra Hearts of Oak SC legend, Mohammed Polo has taken a swipe against football administrators calling for the resumption of the Ghana Premier League.
All sporting activities were suspended in March this year following the outbreak of the Coronavirus pandemic.
President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo on his 10th address on measures taken to curb the spread of the Coronavirus allowed the non-contact sport to resume their normal activities by adhering to the safety protocols.
Ban on contact sports like football is still in full force due to the dangers it entails.
In spite of that, a session of football administrators and club owners have expressed disappointment in the president for not lifting the ban on football.
But the 1978 Africa Cup of Nations winner in an interview with Bryt FM in Koforidua asked football administrators to remain calm for the government.
According to him, the situation of the Europeans who have resumed their leagues are different from that of Ghana.
“I think it is about time football administrators calm down and allow government to work because the disease is very dangerous. After all human lives is more important than football so we shouldn’t always think about football”
“We cannot compare ourselves to the Europeans because their situation is different from ours. As we speak, the league lack certain things like sponsorships and even paying players has become difficult for clubs. Since government is not prepared to help at the moment we should keep our fingers crossed” he added.
