Club administrators and owners of Ghana Premier League clubs have threatened to boycott the upcoming GFA Normalization Committee Special Competition following what they call 'unacceptable' terms of proposal.

The GFA Normalization Committee during the week met with sixteen clubs in the top flight and the other teams in the second tier to put before them, the modalities of the special committee. The sixteen clubs in the Premier League seems not satisfied with the proposal and has resolved to boycott the upcoming Special Competition.

This decision was taken in a meeting held by the administrators who play in the top flight. The participating clubs are assured a minimum number of eight matches as against a minimum pay of GH¢20,000.

According to the administrators, the money quoted by the committee can only cater for group matches which is inadequate.

The group thus worked on a counterproposal based on the $800,000 the Normalisation Committee claims it has received from the government towards the organisation of the Special Competition which is expected to kick off on January 26.

A meeting is expected to be held between the Ghana FA and the Premier League clubs in a bid to find a middle ground on Thursday.

Premier league members have resolved to boycott the competition should the committee failed to walk with their counter-proposal.

The clubs have also rejected a proposal from the Ghana FA to pay incentives directly to the players.

“We found the terms of this competition extremely unacceptable and thus we have rejected them".

“We have not only rejected but also made counterproposals as an alternative towards resolving this issue", a source told Footballghana.com from the meeting.

The media launch of the special committee is slated to be made on Friday, however, this drag of feet seems to be the setback of the Ghana FA Normalization Committee since they want the game to be revived.
