GTA/Stanbic launch vacation Table Tennis Clinic

Accra, August 3, GNA – The Ghana Table Tennis Federation (GTTF) in partnership with Stanbic Bank Ghana Limited, have launched a vacation clinic as part of efforts to revive the mass appeal of the sport among the youth.

The clinic developed for children between the ages of 6 and 16, will seek to teach the children the basics of the game with supervision from experienced coaches.

Mawuko Afadzinu, Vice President of the GTTF said the clinic, which is scheduled to commence on Saturday, August 13, is aimed at providing youngsters the opportunity to explore their talents in the sport, with the federation also taking advantage of the opportunity to identify and groom talents for the future.

He said the exercise will also provide the federation the opportunity to secure the future of the sport through the new talents that will be developed.

According to Afadzinu, the timing of the clinic was also key because it is coming just after the National Unity Games as it will sustain the newly developed spirit of the event.

The GTTF Vice President announced that registration for the clinic is free, and the deadline fixed on Tuesday, August 9.

He urged parents to provide their children with the needed assistance to participate in the clinic.

Afadzinu said the month-long clinic will be supported by Stanbic Bank Ghana Limited, MTN, Goil Ghana Limited and Coca Cola Bottling Company Limited.

Worlanyo Agra, Director General of the National Sports Authority (NSA) commended the federation for the initiative.

He said it falls within the plan of the NSA to develop more talents for the nation in all sporting disciplines.

Agra charged corporate bodies to support the Authority to develop and promote sports in Ghana.
