Banjul, Gambia, May 15, GNA - Jonathan Quartey and George Appiah, two regular players of the national under-17, team, the Black Starlets at the on-going Sixth Africa Under-17 Tournament in the Gambia will miss the semi final game scheduled for Tuesday, May 17.

The players by the rules of the competition have been barred from the match after receiving their respective second yellow cards in the competition.

Quartey and Appiah were booked last Friday in the last group game against Gambia after receiving yellow cards each in the previous matches and would return to the team either in the finals or the third placed matches. Both players have been regular features in the team since the commencement of the tournament.

Whilst Quartey has been a regular figure in the defensive build up of the team, Appiah also featured prominently in the attacking machinery of the team and have one goal to his credit.

Speaking to the GNA Sports, coach Duncan said he is confident of finding perfect replacements for the two players.

According to the coach, he is looking at the possibility of having Solomon Addy back to the team, though a lot will depend on his fitness or he would decide to push on Ernest Danso who played at the wing back position in the game against Gambia to the central defence. Coach Duncan expressed the hope that any of the pairings will be able to deliver in order to see the team through to the finals.
