Aston Villa’s new manager Remi Garde has revealed he knows about Ghana striker Jordan Ayew and the other players who were signed from the French top-flight.

The Ghana striker is among four players who were signed from the French Ligue 1 in the summer to help boost the fortunes of the team.

Villa signed Jordan Veretout, Jordan Amavi, Jordan Ayew and Idrissa Gana from French clubs but Ayew is the only player among them to have shown signs of true promise.

However the Ghanaian striker did not have a smooth start in the English Premier League as he was criticized for not scoring for more than two months since joining the top-flight.

Ayew has scored in two successive matches but more is expected of the Ghanaian and the other players signed from the French top-flight after paying top dollar for the French imports.

Aston Villa’s new coach, who is also from France says he will work hard to find out what makes them tick to bring out the best in them but warns that just because he is French, it does not mean he will instantly get them to flourish.

“I know them as football players, of course, yes,” Garde said when asked if he knows the players from France.

“As people, no. Behind the player, I need to understand who they are and how they are.

“I need to know their motivations and where they are currently.

“I try to spend as much time as I can to get to know all the players.

“I have been in the club only two days, though.

“I watched a lot of Villa games so I have a good idea of all the players.”
