Asamoah Gyan has reiterated his desire to see Coach Kwasi Appiah guide the Black Stars to lift the 2019 AFCON set to kick off next month.
Following fruitful reconciliatory talks between Gyan and Coach Appiah over a recent captaincy row, the former has reiterated his desire to see the gaffer guide the Black Stars to the Promised Land.
Gyan had announced his retirement from the national team after the coach took a decision to make Andre Ayew the new captain of the side.
Gyan was forced to stage a swift return from his international retirement after Ghana President Nana Akufo-Addo instructed him to rescind his decision.
The former Ghana captain who has now been made the General Captain of the team respected the order of the president and rescinded his decision.
Following his comeback, the Kayserispor striker arranged for a reconciliatory meeting with the gaffer which took place on Tuesday.
Gyan, according to sources at the meeting, pledged his support for the coach and reiterated his desire to support his agenda of winning the AFCON trophy which has eluded Ghana for 37 years.
Gyan will be making his seventh appearance at the AFCON as he continues to be Ghana’s most capped player as well as all-time top scorer.
The former Sunderland striker is part of a 29-man squad named by Coach Kwasi Appiah to start a three-week camping in Dubai ahead of the AFCON in Egypt.
