Technical Director of Inter Allies Football Club Willie Klutse insists the General captain in any football team holds a bigger office than the main skipper.
Ghana Black Stars coach James Kwesi Appiah stripped Asamoah Gyan of the main captaincy and gave it to Andre Ayew whilst handing the Kayserispor striker a “General Captain” role last week.
The issue did not go down with Gyan who retired because of that only for him to rescind his decision after talks with President of Ghana HE Akufo-Addo.
Various arguments are going on concerning the role of the General Captain but Klutse who was part of Ghana’s 1978 African Cup winning squad says the position Gyan is holding now is bigger than the first one.
“The work of a General Captain is bigger than that of a Captain. He is a mediator between the Captain, the Coach and Management. He oversees everything including the work of the Captain,” Klutse told Happy Sports.
Kwesi Appiah named Andre Ayew as the captain of the Black Stars on Thursday with Kwadwo Asamoah as the aasistant and Gyan as the General Captain.
