Udinese's out-of-favour defender Mohammed Gargo is closing in on a move to Serie B strugglers Genoa. Gargo is eager to quit Udinese due to his lack of first-team football and has no qualms in dropping down a division.
The Ghanaian stopper has spent eight years in Udine but hopes to seal a switch to Genoa within the next week.
Genoa coach Luigi De Canio has already discussed the deal with Gargo and all that remains is for the two clubs to thrash out an agreement.
"In the last days, I've had a telephone call with Luigi De Canio," Gargo told Udinese's website.
"He would like me in his team. I gave him my complete consent to the move. "Now the clubs must find an agreement."
