South Africa's Michael Mokeona made the weight for his upcoming fight against Ghanaian opponent George 'The Red Tiger' Ashie on Thursday ahead of their mega fight on Friday at the Bukom Boxing Arena.
Mokeona weighed 134 pounds while George Ashie also put up 135 pounds on the scale before officials of the World Boxing Organization (WBO) Africa and Ghana Boxing Association (GBA) approved of the WBO Africa lightweight title fight in Accra.
On the night with two WBO belts at stake, Richmond Commey will also face Isaac Sackey for the Junior Featherwight title.
In other supporting bouts Ayitey Powers will clash with Gbese Bruno, while Obodai Sai makes a return after his defeat to a tough Namibian at the same venue.
The sensational Octopus Dzanie who held the WBO Super Bantamweight title and was stripped for Joseph Agbeko will be on stage to call for his “stolen” belt.
Samir Captan, WBO Africa rep in Ghana adviced the boxers to put up good performances and thrill the crowd to attract bigger fights and purses. He said a WBO African title holder automatically gets rated in the top 10 or best 15 in the world rankings.
Nettey, the secretary of GBSU said they support all Ghanaian boxers and George Ashie is one of the best boxers to support, so he urged all boxing fans to be at the Bukom Boxing Arena on Friday, April 27, 2018.
The Box Office Promotions has lined up an entertainment package for the night spearheaded by top entertainer, dancer, rapper and singer, Papa Row.
Rates for the fight are 20ghc for popular stand, 50ghc for VIP and 100ghc for VVIP.
The sponsor for the event include; The Gym, Trust Emporium, Ghana @61 Secretariat, Paradise Pac, Jet Link, 29 Photo Studio, MTK, and Tune Africa.
The Ghana Boxing Supporters Union (GBSU) who once boycotted a bout by Box Office have agreed in principle to back the event with there rhythms and sweet jama songs.
