Gerald Asamoah set to be appointed team manager of Schalke 04

Former Germany international Gerald Asamoah is being considered by Bundesliga side Schalke 04 for the role of a team manager.

Asamoah is in the running for the position following the club's intentions to reorganize the team after an epic fall from last season.

The Royal Blues took a first step of reorganizing their back room, securing the services of Jochen Schneider from RB Leipzig.

Schneider spent many years with Stuttgart before joining the Red Bull empire.

Schneider is believed to be vouching for Asamoah's return to the club in order to get things back on track.

Schalke, traditionally among the competitors for Champions League football, are languishing in 14th in the Bundesliga.

The Royal Blues were dismantled 3-0 in Mainz on the weekend, after falling just short to Manchester City in midweek.

Asamoah played for Schalke between 1999 to 2010.
