German Ambassador Commends Investors

His Excellency Dr. Harald Loeschner, German Ambassador to Ghana, has opened a ?40 billion ultra modern meat factory and a restaurant at Tema.

Construction of the Pioneer Meat Factory, which began 11 months ago, is to supply canned meat to Ghanaians and neighbouring countries.

The restaurant - Southern Fried Chicken (SFC) - is the first to be given international food franchise system in Ghana.

With a seating capacity for 1,000 guests and a staff of 205, SFC serves local and continental dishes.

It also provides facilities for meetings, conferences and parties.

In his address, Ambassador Loeschner commended Ghanaian entrepreneurs for their initiative.

He said at a time when some developing countries are struggling to survive in the face of recession, Ghanaian investors are doing well.

Dr. Loeschner described the location of the factory and restaurant as very strategic and expressed the hope that they would attract investors and tourists.

He appealed to investors in the European Union countries to respond to the government's call to come and invest here.

The Minister of State in-charge of Fisheries, Hon, Ishmael Ashitey was happy that the two projects were sited in his constituency - Tema East - to provide jobs for the people.

He said the NPP government would not relent in giving every necessary support to investors.

The minister commended the foresight and business acumen of the Proprietor, Dr. Paul Kofi Fynn.

He described Ghanaians as hardworking and advised those who travel overseas to seek greener pastures to remain and help develop the country with the same zeal and devotion which they work in foreign countries.

He assured investors that all bottlenecks that hinder smooth flow of business in the country would be removed to reflect the government's positive change concept.

Dr. Fynn, managing director of the two companies said the opening of the factory and restaurant was his fulfilled cherished dream.

He said with determination, courage and foresight Ghanaians can move the nation forward.

He lamented lack of support for Ghanaian investors especially high taxation on imported goods and bureaucratic impediments on clearing of goods at the port.

Speaking to this paper, Dr. Fynn said he would in the near future expand his business to Kurnasi and other regions. Mr. Justice Douse, a High Court judge, chaired the function.
