Ghana Athletics will host its first ever congress as mandated by its constitution and that of the International Association of Athletics Federations (IAAF). Congress is the general assembly of the constituents and the highest authority of the Ghana Athletics Association (GAA). The event will be held at the conference center at the Ohene Djan Stadium on Wednesday the 12th of November 2008. The deadline for nominations was 29th of October 2008. All nominations were submitted in writing to the secretary general of the Ghana Athletics Association (GAA). There will be elections for the following executive council positions during congress:
1) Chairman
2) Vice-Chairman
3) Treasurer
4) Individual members of the executive council

Please note that election of a representative for executive council positions reserved for specific member bodies of the GAA must be concluded by each individual member body prior to congress.
The following member bodies need to elect a representative prior congress; 1) Athletes association
a. Local based (1 representative)
b. Foreign based (1 representative)
2) Regional Athletics Associations (1 representative per region)
3) Security Services Sports Association (1 representative)
4) Ghana University Sports Association (1 representative)
5) Ghana Education Service (1 representative) :
