The Ghana Football Association is under pressure to offer financial assistance to clubs amid concerns over the impact of the Coronavirus pandemic.

The federation has been asked to follow in the footsteps of other member associations including Liberia and Tunisia which have offered financial assistance to their clubs.

The FA is under pressure to dip into its cash reserves if any to assist clubs to deal with the impact of the coronavirus outbreak, which has forced a shutdown of football leagues and competitions in the West African nation.

The Ghana FA has suspended football activities at all levels in the country, which has reported 641 cases of the virus, until further notice in response to the pandemic.

Football clubs are looking up to the Ghana FA for financial aid as they continue to feel the bite of the lack of football in the country.

As the economic consequences of the coronavirus pandemic ripples across the country, critics say the FA must see it as duty to offer a lifeline to struggling Ghanaian clubs.

While the Ghana FA has released the Ghanaman Soccer of Excellence to the government as an isolation centre to fight the pandemic, football clubs have appealed for a direct cash support to cushion their demands.

The coronavirus pandemic has caused havoc with Ghana football, forcing difficult decisions and pleas for help from clubs across the country.

No part of the world’s biggest sport has been untouched by the rapid spread of the COVID-19 disease as games have been wiped out across professional leagues.
